The first members of the East Friesland Congregation were entitled to a lot in the cemetery which were assigned by drawing of lots. All members who joined after 1865 were able to purchase a lot from the trustees for $5.00. In cases of members dying whose families were not in the position to purchase a block, they were given a grave at no cost. No one, neither old members or the new members had the right to sell, trade, or give away their inherited or purchased lots to anyone other than members of this congregation. In 1893 the trustees were instructed to buy 3 or 4 acres land from Mrs. Heye Muller for the enlargement of the cemetery. The records in 1901 indicate the trustees purchased 5 acres of land for the cemetery at $110.00 per acre. Oelmann, Jutting and Schroede were instructed to organize the cemetery map and the book with the names of the graves. They were also to lay out the lots and put a fence around the new cemetery. No bushes or trees were to be planted on the lots.

Cemetery Lot #29 shall be reserved for use by the pastorate at any time. Action was taken in 1922 to incorporate the Cemetery.

The church cemetery records and records from the tombstones have been combined to compile a list of people who are buried in the East Friesland Cemetery. Some of the names listed in the church record book do not have tombstones in the cemetery and some may have names on a tombstone but nothing in the records. It has been rumored and not verified that there are unmarked and unrecorded graves located north of the church.
