Jennie Fisher Services Held

Jennie Sietsema Fisher passed from this life on Thursday afternoon, May 26, 1983, at the Presbyterian Home in Ackley where she had been a resident for almost four years. She reached the age of 76 years, 6 months and 5 days.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 30 at 1:30 p.m. at Eastfriesland Presbyterian Church. Rev. Donald Martin officiated.

Debra Oelmann was organist and Michelle Fisher was pianist. Soloists were Laura Fisher and Frederick Meyer.

Pallbearers were Brent Fisher, Lee Okones, Robert Ammann, Todd Fisher, Neil Okones Jr., and Charles Stief. Bernard Cobie and Noble DeNeui served as ushers.

Interment was in the church cemetery.

Jennie was born November 21, 1906, the daughter of George Sr. and Gertie Haan Sietsema, in Pleasant Valley township, Grundy County, IA. She received her formal education in the rural school of that neighborhood. She attended the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church in Parkersburg.

On February 20, 1929, she was united in marriage to Arend Alfred Fisher and together they farmed various farms east of Cleves all of their working years. To this union were born three sons, Arnold Dale, a stillborn child, Ronald of Wellsburg, and Arnold Dean of Aurora, CO.

Jennie was a member of the East Friesland Presbyterian Church. She and her family were active in its ministry for many years. She participated in the organizations and served in the Sunday School.

Jennie was preceded in death by her husband Arend; her son Arnold Dale, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Sietsema, Sr., and two brothers, John Sietsema and Harvey Sietsema.

Those who mourn her passing and will miss her are her two sons, Ronald and his wife Vivian and Arnold Dean; her grandchildren, Brent and his wife Deb, Laura, Michelle and Todd Fisher; also two great-grandchildren, Aaron and Jonathan Fisher. She leaves two sisters, Matilda, Mrs. Neil Okones, Sr. of Wellsburg, and Esther, Mrs. Edward Mennenga of Steamboat Rock; three brothers, Edward Sietsema, Herman Sietsema and George Sietsema, Jr., all of Wellsburg and along with these a host of friends and relatives.
