Ronald Douglas Fisher, 73, of Wellsburg died April 18, 2007 at his home. Funeral services were April 21 at the East Friesland Presbyterian Church in Ackley with burial in the church cemetery. Full military rites were provided by the Elliott-Keninger American Legion Post No. 252 of Ackley. A memorial fund has been established.
Ronald Douglas Fisher was born on February 8, 1934 in Marshalltown the son of Arend and Jennie (Sietsema) Fisher. He graduated from the Steamboat Rock High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Dubuque and one year of Seminary. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 54. Ronald was a licensed lay pastor and served 33 years at St. Peter's U.C.C. in Wellsburg and also farmed. He was a member of various Iowa Conference Committees, Pork Producers Board, Board member of the Wigwam Estates; Lake of the Woods, MN. He had a great love for his family, fishing, his cabin, and farming.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Vivian of Wellsburg; two sons, Brent Fisher and his wife, Deb of Aplington and Todd Fisher and his wife, Diana of Blair, NE; two daughters, Laura Burger and her husband, Steven of California, MO and Michelle West and her husband, Mike of Winnebago, IL; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Arnold Fisher; a father-in-law, Frederick Meyer; a son-in-law, Scott Blackmon; and a brother-in-law, Wendell Meyer.
