Thomas Flessner passed away at his home in Steamboat Rock Wednesday following a lingering illness. He is survived by three sons and three daughters, John of Wellsburg, Henry of Cleves, Elmer of Abbott, Mrs. A. H. Eckhoff, Mrs. A. W. Ross of Steamboat Rock, and Mrs. Calvin Schmid of Berne, Ind.
Thomas A. Flessner was born June 19, 1849, at Ludwigsdorf, near Aurich, Ostfriesland, Germany. In 1877 he was united in marriage with Antji Buhr. The family came to America in 1882 and located on a farm in Hardin county. He moved to Steamboat Rock in 1918. He passed away at his home Wednesday morning, May 26, at the age of 87 years, 11 months and 7 days.
He was preceded in death by his wife and three children.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the house and 1:30 at the Presbyterian church, in charge of Rev. T. Zissler assisted by Dr. F. W. Engelkes of Ackley, Rev. A. C. Kruse of Kesley and Rev. William Landsiedel of Wellsburg. Interment was in the family lot at the Engelkes church near Ackley.
