Arend Fisher Funeral Monday

Arend Alfred Fisher died Thursday evening, August 24, 1978, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. He reached the age of 72 years, 1 month, and 3 days.

Funeral services were held Monday, August 28 at the Eastfriesland Presbyterian church, Ackley. Rev. David Dupee officiated. Dawn Heetland was organist and vocalists were Mrs. Dale Heetland and Mrs. Leonard Oelmann. Henry V. Janssen, Jim VanHove and Raymond Rieken were ushers.

Pallbearers were Brent Fisher, Arnold Schapp, Marvin Fisher, Frederick Fisher, Darrel Johnson and Alle Jaspers. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Arend was born on July 21, 1906, the son of Fred and Titia Koolman Fisher. His entire life was lived in this community. He received his formal education in the rural school. His spiritual training and life were given and sustained by the East Friesland Presbyterian Church, where he was a faithful member for many years. His livelihood was obtained from the land he farmed.

On February 20, 1929, Arend and Jennie Sietsema were united in marriage. They were blessed with three sons: one infant son who died at birth, Ronald of rural Wellsburg, and Arnold of Santee, California.

Arend served his family and community in a number of ways and in the past few years was an active member of the Gideon Organization. In the church, he served on the church boards for many years and was yet participating as a Sunday School teacher.

Those who preceded him in death were his parents, an infant son, two brothers, Joe Fisher and John Fisher, two sisters, Ida Fisher Janssen and Nettie Fisher Schneck.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Jennie; two sons, Ronald and his wife Vivian and Arnold; four grandchildren, Brent, Laura, Michelle, and Todd; one brother, Julius of Ackley; three sisters, Marie, Mrs. William Schneck of Jefferson; Martha, Mrs. George Primus of Wellsburg; and Frieda, Mrs. Al Boll of Kimberly, Missouri, and also a host of friends and relatives.
