Mrs. C. VanHeiden

Mrs. Jennie Fluth van Heiden was born August 15, 1881 in Grundy county, and passed away in the hospital at Hampton, Iowa, Monday morning April 18, 1938, at the age of 56 years, 7 months and 3 days. She had suffered for many years from diabetes, which developed into gangrene and to such a degree that the doctor under whose care she was, deemed it best as a last resort to amputate the affected limb. Because of her weakened condition this shock was too much for her and after a few days she quietly and without a struggle passed away.

On Jan. 15, 1903, she was united in marriage to Cobus van Heiden. Their home was blessed with three daughters and one son. She was member of the Eastfriesland church since 1901, which she joined upon confession of her faith. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, April 21 at her home and in the Eastfreisland church conducted by Rev. Henry Johnson. Many relatives and friends came to pay their last respect to the departed one. Interment was made in the family lot of the cemetery adjacent to the church.

Those surviving her are her husband, Cobus van Heiden, her daughters, Mrs. Anna Marquardt, Jennie and Sadie and one son Charles, all of Ackley; two sisters, Mrs. Hiska Hugo and Mrs. Himka Krull, both of Buffalo Center, Iowa, and one brother Charles Fluth, also of Ackley, besides many other relatives and friends.
