Mrs. Engelke Abbas

Died in Her Eighty-first Year--Brief Illness

Funeral services for Mrs. Engelke Abbas, 81, who died Tuesday night following three weeks' illness following an accident that resulted in breaking her hip, were conducted Friday at the family home; services by Rev. E. Seybold of St. John's church. Interment was in Westfriesland Presbyterian church cemetery three miles southeast of Ackley. Mrs. Abbas, born Hilka Schroeder, was born September 21, 1855 in Germany. She was united in marriage to Engelke Abbas in 1879; they came to America, locating near Ackley in 1881. In November 1920, they came into Ackley. Mrs. Abbas is survived by one son John, of Madrid, Iowa, six daughters, Mrs. Hannes VanHeiden, Sheffield; Mrs. Arend Bonk, Iowa Falls; Mrs. Ernest Olson, Ackley; Mrs. Joe Hanig, Hampton; Mrs. Joe Cook, Grand Meadow, Minn.; Mrs. John Johnson, Browndale, Minn. Also a brother, in Germany.
