Rites Held For Mabel Jutting

Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 24, at the East Friesland Presbyterian Church near Ackley for Mabel Jutting, 96, who died Tuesday at the Good Samaritan Center in Fontanelle.

Rev. Donald L. Martin officiated with Mrs. Leonard Oelmann as vocalist and Mrs. Vaughn Willms as organist.

Casket bearers were Bernard Cobie, Frederic Fisher, Everett Anderson, Warren Lindaman, Leonard Oelmann and Robert Rieken with interment in the church cemetery. Andrle and Creps Funeral Home of Eldora handled funeral arrangements.

Mabel Esther Jutting was born November 26, 1892, in Pleasant Valley township of Grundy county. She was the daughter of Christian and Anna Buehre Trepp. She received her education in the rural schools, graduating from Ackley High School in 1911.

She then attended normal school and taught country school in Franklin county. She was united in marriage to Henry Oelmann on February 20, 1917. He preceded her in death in 1923.

She resumed teaching school for several years. On November 17, 1925, she was united in marriage with William U. Jutting at the East Friesland church parsonage. They farmed northwest of Wellsburg until 1958 when they retired and moved to Steamboat Rock.

Mr. Jutting preceded her in death in 1969. She was also preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and four brothers. She was a lifelong member of East Friesland Presbyterian Church near Ackley.

Survivors include a daughter, whom she took into her home in 1919 and raised, Berthamae, and son-in-law, Wayne Norris, of Greenfield; one grandson, Verle and wife, Linda of rural Corydon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services Held For Mrs. Mabel Jutting

Funeral services for Mrs. Mabel Jutting, 96, of Steamboat Rock were held Saturday, June 24, 1989, at 1:30 p.m. at the East Friesland Presbyterian Church, near Ackley. Rev. Don Martin was officiating pastor. Mrs. Leonard Oelmann was vocalist. Organist was Mrs. Vaughn Willems. Pall bearers were Evert Anderson, Robert Rieken, Frederic Fisher, Leonard Oelmann and Warren Lindaman. The interment service was held in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Mrs. Jutting died of natural causes on Tuesday, June 20, in Fontanelle.

Survivors are a daughter, Berthamae Norris of Greenfield; a grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry Oelmann, in 1923; her second husband, William U. Jutting in 1969; five sisters and four brothers.

Mrs. Jutting graduated from Ackley High School in 1911 and then attended the University of Northern Iowa. She taught in the country schools in Franklin county for several years. She also farmed with her husband northwest of Wellsburg until 1958.

The Andrle and Creps Funeral Home of Eldora was in charge of arrangements.
