Bertha Meints Services Held

Funeral services for Bertha Meints, 70, of Ackley, were held Friday, October 28, at 11 a.m. at East Friesland Presbyterian Church, Ackley, with Pastor Doug House and Rev. Tim Olson officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Bertha passed away Tuesday, October 25, at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls.

Bertha was born July 21, 1924, the daughter of Walbert and Johanna Lindaman Boelman in Ackley. She attended school in Grundy county.

On March 14, 1944, she was united in marriage to Melvin Meints at Ackley. She owned and operated B&M Western Wear, rural Ackley, and also did wallpapering, cleaning and painting for other people.

She was a member of the East Friesland Presbyterian Church, the Saddle Club of Ackley, Legion Auxiliary and TOPS Chapter of Ackley.

Survivors include a grandson, Corey Meints, of Ackley; 1 brother, Bill and wife, LaVera of Marshalltown; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Meints and Helen Boelman of Ackley; and many friends and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; 1 daughter, Betty Jean; her parents; 6 sisters, Janet Williams, Anna Werkman, Minnie Grimmus, Hanna Finger, Fannie Williams, and Tillie Miller; and 3 brothers, Arnold, George and Bert.

Brandt-Fritz Funeral Home, Ackley, was in charge of the arrangements.
