Menno VanLoh Dies Suddenly at Home On Memorial Day

Menno VanLoh passed away unexpectedly at his home Memorial Day morning of a heart attack. His death was a shock to his family and friends as he was in apparent good health up to the time of his death.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 1, at 1:30 at the East Friesland Presbyterian Church following prayer services at the family home at 1 p.m. Interment was in the Church cemetery. The Rev. Peter E. Eckhoff officiated.

Mr. VanLoh was born September 6, 1895 in Grundy County, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John VanLoh of Wellsburg. He became a member of the East Friesland Church in April 1917 and served as elder for two terms.

On December 22, 1920, Mr. VanLoh and Henrietta Krull of Buffalo Center were married. To this union four daughters and one son were born. Mrs. VanLoh passed away July 2, 1940.

Survivors include his four daughters, Johanna (Mrs. Jans) Mennenga of Steamboat Rick, Helen (Mrs. Raymond) Benning, Everdina (Mrs. Myron) Arends, Esther (Mrs. Alvin) Boyenga, all of Ackley, and one son, John M., of Ackley; three brothers, Jans of Ashton, Louie of Wellsburg, John H. of Ackley; two sisters, Tena (Mrs. Herbert) Janssen of Parker, South Dakota, and Jennie (Mrs. Jake J.) DeVries of Ackley.

He was preceded in death by his wife; one brother, two sisters in infancy and one half-brother.
