Florence Oelmann

Florence Oelmann, 95, of Ackley, Iowa, died June 15, 2000 at the Presbyterian Village in Ackley.

She was born July 15, 1904 in rural Steamboat Rock, Iowa, the daughter of Alle and Harmke Martins Jaspers. She attended Hardin County schools.

She married Ernest Oelmann August 11, 1923.

Mrs. Oelmann was a member of the Missionary Guild, East Friesland Presbyterian Church, was a Sunday school teacher, Bible school teacher and taught junior high youth.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two grandsons; three brothers, Abraham, Dores and Okko Jaspers; two sisters, Fanna and Frauwe, and a great-granddaughter.

Survivors include: three daughters, Myrle Lindaman and her husband, Lloyd, of Iowa Falls, Anna Mae Tharp and her husband, Russell, of Washington, Illinois, and Darlene Gerdes and her husband, Richard of Ackley; two sons, Donald Oelmann and his wife, Shirley, of Iowa Falls, and Leonard Oelmann and his wife, Marlene, of Ackley; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services were June 19 at East Friesland Presbyterian Church in rural Ackley with Rev. Randy Russom officiating.

Sietsema Funeral Home of Ackley were in charge of the arrangements.
