Services Held For George Willems

Funeral services for George Willems who passed away on Friday, October 23 at Schoitz Hospital in Waterloo were conducted on Monday, October 26 at 1:30 p.m. at the East Friesland Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Dupee officiating. Mrs. Virgil Heetland accompanied Mrs. Gordon Fritz and Mrs. Marvin Richtsmeier on the organ. Mrs. Donald Arends and Mrs. Thomas Sherfield were in charge of the floral arrangements. Ushers were Harry Beving, John VanLoh, and Henry Janssen. Pall bearers were James Willems, Robert Willems, Gerald Willems, Duane VanHeiden, Roger VanHeiden and Lavern VanHeiden. Interment was in the church cemetery.

George Willems was born on April 12, 1902 in Grundy County the son of Gerhardt and Antge Roskamp Willems. On March 20, 1930, he was united in marriage to Anna VanHeiden in Grundy County by the Rev. John Kraft of Ackley. They have lived on the present farm since then. Mr. Willems joined the East Friesland Presbyterian Church on December 4, 1932, and was a faithful member.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and three sisters.

Survivors include his wife Anna A.; one brother, Jake of Ackley; three sisters, Mrs. Maggie Beving of Grundy Center, Hattie Schultz of Ackley, and Mrs. Annie Jutting of Ackley; and a host of relatives and friends.

Brandt-Fritz Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
