Frances Willems Services Held

Frances Faye Willems, 78, of Ackley, passed away on Friday, January 22, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Funeral services were held on Monday, January 25, at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Presbyterian Church, rural Ackley, with Rev. Tim Diehl officiating.

Interment followed the service in the East Friesland Cemetery, rural Ackley.

Frances was born April 15, 1914, the daughter of Harm and Gertie Hook Reiter in Steamboat Rock. She attended county schools near Steamboat Rock.

On February 24, 1937, she was united in marriage to Jake Willems on her parents' farm, rural Steamboat Rock.

Frances was a member of the Faith Presbyterian Church and also a member of the WIC group of the church. She enjoyed gardening and flowers.

Survivors include three sons and spouses: James and Eloise Willems of Ackley, Jerrell and Norma Willems of Marshalltown, Jay and Arlie Willems of Anamosa; a daughter and spouse: Greta and Raleigh Magee of Cedar Falls; 9 grandchildren: Stacy (Mrs. Steven) DeBerg, and Shawn Willems, Dawn and Rachel Willems, Gretchen and Ingrid Gabrielson, Nathan, Megan and Spencer Willems; two sisters, Cathryn Berends of Steamboat Rock, and Freda Letto of Newport Beach, CA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jake; her parents; and a brother, Carl Reiter.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Brandt-Fritz Funeral Home in Ackley was in charge of the arrangements.
