Henry Riebkes Services Held

Henry Riebkes, 85, of Wellsburg, passed away Friday, April 1, at the Griffin Nursing Center in Knoxville of natural causes.

Funeral services were held on Monday, April 4, at Wellsburg at 1:30 p.m. at the Faith Presbyterian Church, rural Ackley, with Rev. Tim Diehl and Rev. Ferene Varga officating.

Pallbearers were Leonard Gelder, Marvin Riebkes, Delbert Hippen, Duane Tjabring, Ronald Lentz and Roger VanHeiden.

Burial was in the East Friesland Cemetery, rural Ackley.

A memorial fund has been established.

Henry was born on February 16, 1909, in German Township, Grundy County, the son of Martin and Antje (Kannegieter) Riebkes. On December 21, 1938, he married Ella Boekhoff in the East Friesland Church Parsonage, rural Ackley, Henry and Ella moved to town in 1965.

Henry was preceded in death by his wife, Ella in 1993; his parents; four brothers, Riebke, John, Bert, and Louie; and two sisters, Jennie and Mattie.

He is survived by his daughter, Linda Heikens (Jim) of Knoxville; one grandson, Chad Heikens and one granddaughter, Shawna Heikens, both of Knoxville; and one sister, Ida Lindaman of Wellsburg.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg was in charge of the professional arrangements.
