Mrs. Simon Snittjer Died Monday After A Short Illness
Mrs. Simon Snittjer died at her home four miles northwest of Wellsburg at 4:30 Monday morning following an illness of only a few days from pneumonia. She had been suffering from rheumatism for about a month. This affliction left her in a weak physical condition and she didn't have the strength to long resist an attack of pneumonia. Her condition on Sunday became quite serious but about an hour before her death she seemed to have passed the crisis and was able to take some nourishment. A relapse shortly thereafter brought on the end.
Mrs. Snittjer was but 24 years old. She had been married only six months. The news of her sudden death came as a shock to her many friends and to the friends of the family.
Mrs. Snittjer's maiden name was Kate Flessner. She was a daughter of Henry Flessner from Cleves. She resided in this community all of her life. She was a graduate of the Ackley high school and remained at her home from the time of her graduation until she was married last spring.
Surviving are the husband, her father, her grandfather and one sister, Mrs. Raymond Rieken.
Funeral services were held at the home at one o'clock Wednesday afternoon and later at the Engelke church in German township. Burial was in the Engelke church cemetery.
