Mrs. William C. Laube, 65, matron of the Bethany home for more than a decade and widow of Dr. William C. Laube, founder of the home, died unexpectedly Tuesday at her home in Steamboat Rock, Ia.

Services are tentatively set for Saturday in Steamboat Rock.

She was born Jacobina Jaspers on Oct. 31, 1886, in Steamboat Rock. In 1926 she became matron of the Bethany home. She served on the board of directors for many years. In 1934, she was married to Dr. Laube, who was the first president of the home's board of trustees, its second superintendent and a former church history professor at the University of Dubuque. Dr. Laube died in 1944.

Survivors include three stepsons, Dr. Paul Laube and Gregory Laube, both of Dubuque, and Herbert, of Auburn, N.Y.; two sisters, Mrs. John Wilts, of Steamboat Rock, and Mrs. Kate DeNeui, of Wellsburg, Ia.; and a brother, Benjamin Jaspers, of Steamboat Rock.

Final Rites Held Saturday For Mrs. Wm. Laube

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 9, at 1:30 o'clock from the Presbyterian Church, Steamboat Rock, for Mrs. William C. Laube, who died at her home in Steamboat Rock last Tuesday. Interment will be in the Eastfriesland Cemetery northeast of Steamboat Rock.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. John DeNeui of Wellsburg; Mrs. John Wilts of Steamboat Rock; one brother, Ben Jaspers of Steamboat Rock; three stepsons, Gregory Laube and Dr. Paul Laube of Dubuque, and Herbert Laube of Auburn, New York.

The former Jacobina Jaspers she was born October 31, 1886, in Clay township, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Jaspers. She lived in and near Steamboat Rock until the death of her mother in 1919, later entering nurses training at the Deaconess Hospital, Marshalltown. She graduated from the School of Nursing at Mercy Hospital, Des Moines, in 1925. She practiced her profession for several years, and served as matron of the Bethany Home for the Aged in Dubuque for a number of years.

On December 26, 1933, she was married to Dr. William C. Laube of Dubuque, who preceded her in death in 1944. She served for two years as matron of the girls dormitory at the University of Dubuque, and later as seminary librarian, after which she returned to her home in Steamboat Rock where she lived until the time of her death.

Mrs. Wm. Laube Dies At Steamboat Rock

Mrs. Wm. Laube died as a result of a stroke at her home in Steamboat Rock on Tuesday of last week. She was 65 years old. Funeral services and burial were at Steamboat Rock on Friday.

Mrs. Laube was born near Steamboat Rock Oct. 31, 1886, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Jaspers. She was graduated from the Evangelical Deaconess school of nursing in Marshalltown about 1918 and nursed before her marriage to Dr. William Laube, Dec. 26, 1933.

They lived at Dubuque until his death in 1944. After that she was matron at Bethany home there and housemother at the University of Dubuque until five years ago, when she returned to Steamboat Rock.

Surviving are two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Joseph DeNeui, Wellsburg, and Mrs. John Wilts and Ben Jaspers, of Steamboat Rock.
