Died At Boone, Iowa

Daughter of George Arends--Buried Here Tuesday

The funeral services of Miss Emma Arends, daughter of George Arends, were held at East Friesland Presbyterian church Tuesday, March 14th. Miss Emma, a member of the Boone Biblical College since about 9 years ago, passed away at that place after a very short illness. Mrs. Crawford, President of the institution, conducted the services at Boone, Iowa, and also assisted Rev. Siemsen, pastor of East Friesland Presbyterian church (interment being made in the church cemetery). Mr. George Arends of Covina, Calif., accompanied the body from Boone.

Miss Arends reached the age of 49 years and 19 days. She leaves to mourn her departure her father and stepmother, two brothers, John of Detroit, Mich., Dick of Ackley; one sister, Marguerite, of Ubba City, California; and one half-sister, Mrs. Merle Smucker of Covina, Calif.; and cousins and friends.

Former German Twp. Woman Dies in Boone

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Eastfriesland Presbyterian church in German township for Miss Emma Arends, who died on Friday at the Biblical College Home at Boone of complications. Services were conducted by the local pastor, Rev. Calvin Siemsen.

Miss Arends was born on a farm in German township February 19, 1890. She was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Arends. Her mother died more than 30 years ago. She made her home with her parents until they moved to Ackley 17 years ago. Eight years ago she entered the home at Boone.

Surviving are the father and step-mother, two brothers, Dick G. Arends of Ackley and John Arends of Neperville, Ill., one sister, Miss Marguerite Arends of Yuba City, Calif., and one half-sister, Mrs. Merle Smucker, Covena. Her father, who with Mrs. Arends spends the winter in Covena, Calif., was here for the funeral services.
