Byron J. Arends, 82

Byron Joseph Arends, 82, of Ackley, passed away Sunday, June 17 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Funeral services were Tuesday, June 19 at West Friesland Presbyterian Church, Ackley. Burial was in East Friesland Cemetery, Ackley.

Byron was born January 28, 1919 in rural Ackley the son of Jerry and Nancie (Ulfers) Arends. He attended rural school. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was stationed at Iran and Algiers, North Africa, the Island of Corsica and in France. He returned home and farmed with his parents until their retirement. Byron married Everdena VanLoh on March 6, 1956.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife; a sister; and many relatives and friends.
