Gerald Hook Dies Suddenly Monday At His Home
Funeral services for Gerald Hook were held this afternoon (Wednesday) at 1:30 p.m. at the home and at 2:00 p.m. at the East Friesland Presbyterian church near Ackley. Rev. Calvin Siemsen officiated at the services assisted by Rev. Paul Bakker of Belmont, Michigan. Interment was made in the cemetery adjoining the church.
Gerald Laurence Hook, the son of Ben and Maggie Lutterman Hook, was born on June 20, 1909 in Grundy County, Iowa. In 1926 he graduated from the Wellsburg High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1931 and served in the navy for four years.
On March 8, 1938 he was united in marriage with Miss Luella Cobie. Together they lived on their farm in German Township, Grundy County until his departure from this life. During recent years he was a member of the Board of Supervisors of Grundy County.
Mr. Hook passed away very suddenly on Monday morning, May 6, 1957 at the age of 47 years, 10 months and 16 days at his home of a heart attack. Five months ago he suffered a heart attack from which he seemed to have recovered.
Those who survive his untimely loss are his widow, Mrs. Luella Hook, four sisters: Mrs. Sander DeNeui of Wellsburg, Mrs. William M. Ross of Grundy Center, Mrs. Roy Huddleston of Decatur, Illinois and Mrs. Frank Ornduff of Terre Haute, Indiana. Three brothers who survive are Herman Hook, Lester Hook, and Benjamin Hook, all of Wellsburg.
Preceding the deceased in death was his father in 1946 and his mother in 1951.
