Together they lived on farms in Hardin county, first near Ackley, and in 1940 moved to their farm in the vicinity of Steamboat Rock. Mrs. Kies was called to her eternal reward very unexpectedly early Saturday morning, August 5, 1950. She attained the age of 49 years, 10 months and 26 days.

She leaves to mourn her departure her deeply bereaved husband, Albert Kies, one brother, Christian J. Freese of Ackley, one half-sister, Mrs. Joe Boyenga of Ackley, two half-brothers, Paul and Ubbe Heetland, both of Ackley, besides many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, August 8, at 1:30 at the home three miles north and one-half mile east of Steamboat Rock and later at the East Friesland Presbyterian church. Interment was made in the cemetery adjoining the church.
