Haje Kruse Laid To Rest Friday
Many Gather To Pay Their Final Tribute To An Old And Well Loved Friend And Neighbor
Death Came Suddenly
Not Many Of The Friends Or Mr. Kruse Knew Of His Illness Before Death Came
Funeral services were held at the Eastfriesland Presbyterian church Friday afternoon for Haje Kruse, aged 67 years, and who had been a resident of German township for many years. Mr. Kruse passed away in the Ellsworth hospital, Iowa Falls on Tuesday, following a stroke of paralysis, and his death came as a distinct shock to his friends, many of whom knew nothing of his misfortune. The services were conducted by the Rev. Mr. Siemsen, pastor of the church. Interment was made in the church cemetery.
Haje Kruse was born in Grundy County on May 1, 1871, and grew to manhood here, and has made his home in this county all of the 67 years of his life and has earned and merited the love and respect of everyone with whom he has come in contact with. In 1892 he was united in marriage with Hendertje Kurtzleben, and they made their home in the same community for all their 47 years of life together. To this union was born six children; five sons and one daughter. They are Albert, of Steamboat Rock; Tom, of Abbott; Cornelius, Jake and Harm, at home; and Mrs. Emil Miller of German township and they with their mother are left to mourn the departure of a kind and loving father.
In last weeks notice of the death of Mr. Kruse, tossed together in a hurry, as it the custom on press days several mistakes were made notably the one referring to Mr. Kruse as a "stock miser," which should have read "stock raiser." The mistake was regrettable but we feel sure that those who knew Mr. Kruse and there are few that did not, realized that the error was merely a misprint and without intentional inference.
