Mrs. Geo. Boelman Dies Early Friday After Heart Attack
Mrs. George Boelman suffered a heart attack Thursday evening and was taken to Ellsworth Hospital in Iowa Falls, where she died at 2 a.m. on Friday, November 15.
The Rev. John F. Schortinghuis conducted funeral services at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Wellsburg, on Monday afternoon.
Interment was in the cemetery adjoining the church.
Mrs. Boelman was born Mary Vanderwerf, daughter of Casjen and Siemka Vanderwerf, on November 18, 1891, in Franklin County, Iowa. All of her young life was spent in the Ackley and Wellsburg vicinity.
On February 24, 1916, she was united in marriage to George G. Boelman, and their married life has been spent in this area.
Mrs. Boelman was a faithful member of St. Peter's Church, taught Sunday School for a number of years, and took part in many activities of the church until failing health prevented.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, John, and a sister, Edna. She leaves her husband, a son, Carl, and four sisters, Mrs. Hattie Boelman of Aplington; Mrs. John Lenderts of George; Mrs. Anna Hinders of Ackley; and Mrs. Koert Eilderts of Wellsburg; and three brothers, William Vanderwerf of Aplington, Casjen and Peter Vanderwerf, both of Parkersburg.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the St. Peter's United Church of Christ for Mrs. George G. Boelman of Ackley. Rev. John F. Schortinghuis conducted the services.
Mrs. Ronald Kruse sang, accompanied by Mrs. Allen Spieker who was organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Richard Rieken and Mrs. Ray Toomsen. Pallbearers were John Neymeyer, Lester Schlampp, Richard Rieken, Arend B. Abbas, Ray Toomsen, and Isebrandt Harken. Interment was in the cemetery adjoining the church.
