Luella Hook Dies Suddenly Thursday A.M.

Mrs. Luella Hook collapsed suddenly Wednesday night at the high school after attending the weekly bridge class, and was taken to Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, where she died at 2 a.m. Thursday. She had been in apparent good health up to the time she was stricken.

Mrs. Hook was the daughter of John and Margaret Heikens Cobie. She was born in Grundy County, January 6, 1913, and has always lived in this vicinity. She taught school for a number of years in two Grundy county rural schools.

In 1938 she married Gerald Hook, and they lived on a farm six miles east and two miles south of Ackley. Mr. Hook died suddenly May 6, 1957.

About a year ago Mrs. Hook moved into a newly completed home in the south part of Ackley.

Surviving her are a sister, Mrs. John R. Lindaman, and two brothers, Joe and George Cobie, all of Ackley.

Mr. and Mrs. George Cobie have been vacationing in Florida, and funeral arrangements are pending their return. They started home on Thursday morning.

Services for Luella Hook Held Monday

Funeral services for Mrs. Luella Hook were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the East Friesland Presbyterian church, with the Rev. C. F. Siemsen officiating. Prayer service was held at one o'clock at the John R. Lindaman home.

Mrs. Merlin Bangasser was soloist, and Miss Ruth Lindaman organist. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Tack were in charge of the flowers.

Acting as pall bearers were Merle Cobie, Johannes Meints, Howard Cobie, Lewie Hook, Raymond Hood and Harm Hook.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Hook collapsed suddenly Wednesday evening, February 18, at the Ackley High School where she had attended a bridge class. She was taken to Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo where she passed away about two o'clock the next morning.
