Last Rites For J.J. Lindaman Held Monday

Funeral services for Jacob (Jake) J. Lindaman were held on Monday, March 17, at 1:30 p.m. at the East Friesland Presbyterian Church at rural Ackley. Rev. Donald L. Martin officiated at the services.

Mrs. Leonard Oelmann and Mrs. Dale Heetland sang two selections. Miss Debra Oelmann was organist and accompanist.

Flower ladies were Mrs. Gilbert Korwes and Mrs. Orville Wilts.

Casket bearers were Gregory Lindaman, Kent Nederhoff, Kevin G. Dutcher, David A. Lindaman, Matthew R. Lindaman, and Darrell Dass. The interment service was held in the East Friesland Presbyterian Cemetery.

Doyen Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Jacob (Jake) J. Lindaman passed away around 11:05 Thursday evening, March 13, 1986, at the Maple Manor Nursing Home in Aplington due to complications of advanced age. He reached the age of 84 years, ten months and one day.

He was born on a farm in Colfax Township, near Holland, IA, on May 12, 1901, the son of Jacob and Katy (Greenfield) Lindaman and received his education in the rural school in the area. In November of 1930, he was married to Esther Oelmann at the Parsonage of the East Friesland Presbyterian church by the Rev. F. Engelke. Following their marriage they lived on a farm near the church and later moved to the Lindaman home-place farm northwest of Wellsburg. This union was blessed with two sons, Warren and Arnold Lindaman. They retired from the farm in 1959 and moved to Ackley to make their home. Mrs. Lindaman passed away on May 8, 1973. He continued to live in Ackley until August of 1985, at which time he moved to the Friendship Manor Apartments in Wellsburg. On December 23, 1985, he became a resident of the Maple Manor Nursing Home.

Jake was a member of the East Friesland Presbyterian Church of Ackley for 54 years having joined by Confession of Faith in 1932 and also had served as a Trustee and a Deacon.

Preceding him in death were: his parents, five brothers and six sisters.

Survivors include: two sons, Warren and his wife, Dee of Wellsburg; Arnold and his wife, Lois of Eldridge, IA; eight grandchildren, Cindy Lindaman of Colorado Springs, CO; Greg Lindaman and his wife, Kim of Ackley; Darla Nederhoff and her husband, Kent of Wellsburg, Barb Lindaman of Wellsburg; Kevin Dutcher of St. Paul, MN; David, Matthew and Brian Lindaman all of Eldridge; several in-laws, Mrs. Cornelia Lindaman of Wellsburg; Mrs. Ellen Gross of Ackley; Mrs. Gesina Oelmann of Ackley; Ernest and Florence Oelmann of Ackley and many other relatives and friends.
