Mrs. Henry Jaspers Died Last Friday
Mrs. Henry Jaspers died last Friday at her home in Steamboat Rock following an illness of several months. She was 71 years old. Her health failed gradually since the death of her husband 4 1/2 months ago.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the home and later in the East Friesland Presbyterian church. Burial was in the cemetery adjoining the church.
Mrs. Henry Jaspers, nee Antje Wilts, was born February 12, 1879, in Clay township, Hardin county, Iowa. February 14, 1899, she was united in marriage with Henry Jaspers. With her husband she lived on a farm near Steamboat Rock until 17 years ago when they retired from the farm and moved to Steamboat Rock.
Since 1902 she was a faithful member of the East Friesland Presbyterian church.
She attained the age of 71 yrs., 6 mo., 19 days.
Surviving are two daughters, Florence, Mrs. Matthew Kannegeiter, Steamboat Rock, and Fannie, Mrs. Ralph Aikes, Cleves; one son, Abraham, of Steamboat Rock; 5 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Grace Heikens, Wellsburg; three brothers: John Wilts, of Steamboat Rock; Gratus, Steamboat Rock; Oddie, Grundy Center. Besides her husband, one infant son, one sister and one brother preceded her in death.
Nephews of the deceased were pallbearers: Abe A. Jaspers, Abe DeNeui, Abe Murra, Abe Wilts, Julius Heikens, Julius Wilts. In charge of flowers were Mrs. Harry Williams, Mrs. Paul Tempel, Mrs. Eldon Havens.
Vocalist, Dr. Paul Tempel; Mrs. Geo. Potgeter, accompanist; Anna Mae Oelman, organ.
Relatives and friends attended from Wellsburg, Grundy Center, Eldora, Ackley, Geneva, Cedar Falls, Shell Rock, Cedar Rapids, Allison, Aplington, Parkersburg, Woden, and Minneapolis.
