Geo. Bakker Dead; Former Supervisor

George Bakker, former Grundy county supervisor from the Lincoln-Colfax district, died about midnight Tuesday night at the home of his brother Manne at Reinbeck. Death came quite suddenly from a heart attack. He had been afflicted with a weak heart for some time. He had been living in Arizona the past 9 years, but returned here a few months ago because the heat in Arizona was too much for his health. He would have been 70 years old had he lived until the 28th of December.

He was born in Colfax township and grew up on a farm in Lincoln township. He was twice married. His first wife was May Wumkes, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. Wumkes. He was married a second time about three years ago. His second wife is in Arizona.

Other surviving relatives are his brother Manne and his sister, Mrs. Charles H. Petersen, Grundy Center.

Funeral services will be held at the French funeral home at Reinbeck at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon. It was expected to have the funeral service at the Lincoln Center church, but that church is now being remodeled. Rev. Henry Zwaanstra, pastor of the Lincoln Center church, will officiate at the service. Burial will be by the side of the first wife in the Lincoln Center church cemetery.
