Mrs. S. Sinning Dead

Was a Member of Hardin's and Grundy's Pioneer Families

Mrs. Matilda Sinning, nee Bunjer, was born in Grundy county, Iowa, near Ackley, on June 7, 1863. Here she grew to womanhood and on November 3, 1884 was united in marriage with Sinus Sinning. With him she then established a home on a farm in Hardin county, just a mile west of the place of her birth, where she remained until after the death of Mr. Sinning, which occurred on April 17, 1919. She then erected a house in Ackley, which she occupied in 1920 and until her death.

Apparently in good health, Mrs. Sinning suffered a heart attack on Monday, July 22nd, and departed on Thursday morning about 4:00 o'clock, July 25, 1940, at an age of 77 years, 1 month and 18 days.

Mrs. Sinning is survived by her children: Reaka (now Mrs. Arend K. Arends) of Ackley, Hattie (now Mrs. Henry Meyers) of Wesley, Harry of Ackley, Henry of Steamboat Rock, Minnie (now Mrs. Harry J. England) of Alden, Fannie (now Mrs. Arthur H. Nelson) of Alden, and Elizabeth of Ackley. Twelve grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Ubbe Beving of Ackley, and one brother, John Bunjer of Lennox, S. Dak., also survive her.

Mrs. Sinning had for many years been a member of the East Friesland Presbyterian church near Ackley. After moving to Ackley, she became a member of St. John's Evangelical church.

A large number of relatives and a host of friends expressed to the mourning family their deepest sympathy at the loss of a good mother.

Though friends on earth may miss her face,
As they pass her cottage by;
A friend in heaven has prepared a place,
In the Father's home on high.

Funeral services were held Sunday at the St. John's Evangelical church by Rev. E. Seybold, assisted by Rev. C. Siemsen. Burial was in the East Friesland Presbyterian cemetery.

Sinning of Canton, S. Dak.; Rev. and Mrs. H. F. Sinning of Kamrar, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Greorge E. Sinning of Lake View, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Martin Bunjer and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Sandman of Belmond, Ia.; Mrs. Reake Bossman, Marcella Bossman, and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hamilton of Cedar Falls, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Beving of Guthrie Center, Iowa.
