Aged Ackley Woman Dies

Mrs. Nancy Janssen, who has been in failing health for the past few years, passed away at her home in Ackley Wednesday of last week at 5 o'clock. Mrs. Janssen, nee Freese, was born in Neemoor, Germany, Dec. 16, 1840, and came to this country in 1855 with her parents, settling in Stephenson county, Illinois. In 1857 she was married to Henry Janssen, remaining on a farm in Illinois until 1863, when they moved to a farm in Grundy county near Cleves. There they made their home for several years, when they moved to a farm east of Ackley. In 1901 they moved to Ackley, which has since been their home. Mr. Janssen preceded her in death seventeen years ago. Of ten children born to this union, six are living, one daughter, Mrs. Hattie Ulfers, five sons, Henry, Ben, Verne, Ralph and Harm. She is also survived by forty-four grandchildren and sixty-one great-grandchildren.
