End Comes For J. H. Kleinfelter

Passed Away at Home at Conrad Saturday

Joseph B. Klinefelter was born near Fredericksburg, Lebanon county, Pa., Feb. 2, 1844, and passed from this life at his home in Conrad, Iowa, Oct. 23rd, 1926. His age was 82 years, 8 months, and 21 days.

He came west with his parents in May, 1849, and located at Troy Grove, LaSalle county, Illinois. He there became a member of the Church of God and remained a faithful and loyal member thereof until death. In later years when he removed to this community he transferred his membership to the Alice church where his interests in matters religious centered the remainder of his life.

August 6th, 1865, he was joined in marriage to Harriet E. Reeme, who preceded him in death a little more than four years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Klinefelter became the parents of four children, two girls and two boys. Daniel, an infant and Maggie A. Carstedt, at the age of 26, preceded their parents in death. Mrs. J. C. Dierwechter, of Mendota, Ill., and Forney A., of Conrad, are left to mourn the loss of their father.

Mr. and Mrs. Klinefelter moved to Conrad in October, 1901, where they continued to reside until death.

There are six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, four brothers and one sister who now mourn the loss of a loved one. The sister is Mrs. A. R. Moore, Chicago, and the brothers are Nathan, of Conrad, Henry, of Grundy Center, and Daniel and Joel, of Mendota, Ill.

Mr. Klinefelter was a lover of flowers, and took great delight in beautifying his surroundings. To him his home was his palace, and there he loved most to be. He was, indeed, a familiar man of the community, and will be greatly missed.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. E. Aldrich, pastor of the Alice church, at the home in Conrad and at the Bethel at Alice, assisted by Rev. E. E. Clements, pastor of the M.E. church at Conrad. Interment was in the Alice cemetery across the road from the Bethel to await the resurrection morn.
