Evert Mudderman Dies from Cancer

Evert Mudderman, who spent most of his life in this locality, died at 11:30 Thursday night at his home northeast of Stout. He was afflicted with cancer most of the past year, which was the cause of his death. He was 40 years old last February.

Funeral services were held Monday at one o'clock at the home and later at the East Friesland church in German township. The services were conducted by Rev. Calvin Siemsen, pastor of the East Friesland church, and by Rev. W. J. Heyenga, pastor of the Reformed church at Stout. Burial was in the East Friesland cemetery.

The casket bearers were Charles Nevenhoven, Edward Karsjens, Wm. Dreesman, Ernest Arends, Andrew Bergman and Henry Heeren.

The Mudderman family lived a mile and a half south of Wellsburg. They left here a year and a half ago to move to a farm in Beaver township.

Surviving are the wife and three children. The children are Minnie, Wilma and Harlan, who are at home.

Other surviving relatives are two brothers, Ausbrand Mudderman, Ackley, and Gratus, Stout. There are three surviving sisters, who are Mrs. Ben Schippper and Mrs. Rudolf Sents, Aplington, and Mrs. Will Aswegan, Wellsburg.

Evert William Mudderman, son of William and Meinst Mudderman, was born Feb. 20, 1909, in Grundy county, Ia. He grew to manhood in the same vicinity where he was born. On Jan. 28, 1931, he became united in marriage with Sobena Raske. This union was blessed with three children. Together they lived on farms in Grundy and Hardin counties. In 1938 he joined the East Friesland Presbyterian church near Ackley and remained a faithful member until the time of his death.

In April of this year he submitted to an operation, and although he experienced a certain measure of relief, his condition became very serious about 3 weeks ago which caused him much suffering.

He was preceded in death by his parents. His mother's departure occurred in 1945, and his father was called out of this life in May of this year.
