Henry Aikes, 68, Rites At S.R.

Funeral services were held from the United Presbyterian Church in Steamboat Rock Monday for Henry Aikes, 68, who died Saturday at the Hardin County Home.

Bruce Baillie officiated at the services with Mrs. Lee Pieters as organist and Mrs. Orville Asher and Mrs. James McDonald as vocalists. Casket bearers were John Harms, Ralph Harms, Harold Harms, Harold Fistler, Harold Jaspers, Raymond Daniels, with interment in the Eastfriesland Cemetery in Ackley. Brandt-Fritz Funeral Home of Ackley handled funeral arrangements.

Henry Aikes was born January 3, 1908, on the farm east of Cleves. He was raised on the farm, attending country school in the area. He went to the State Mental Institute at Independence in 1930. In 1948, he stayed with his sister's family in Steamboat Rock, Mr. and Mrs. Ubbe Jutting. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Steamboat Rock. He came to the Hardin County home in 1961, where he lived at the time of his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wiard and Mattie Isebrands Aikes and by his brother, Wiard, his sister, Mrs. Ubbe Jutting and by an infant brother, Henry. He is survived by his brother, Ralph, of Cleves and two sisters, Gertrude Harms of Ackley and Matilda Harms of Cleves.
