Ralph W. Aikes

Ralph W. Aikes, 90, passed away February 24, 1991 at the Presbyterian Home. Services were conducted Tuesday, February 26 at 1:30 p.m. at the East Friesland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bruce Baillie officiating. Marcia Beving was organist and the East Friesland choir sang. Ushers were Bernard Cobie and Virgil Beving. Casket bearers were Raymond Daniels, Ralph Harms, Harold Jaspers, Don Geiken, Art Jaspers and Steve Piper. Interment was in the church cemetery. The Brandt-Fritz Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Ralph Aikes was born July 13, 1900 at Cleves, the son of Wiard and Mattie Isebrands Aikes. He attended the Christian College in Grundy Center. He was married to Fannie Jaspers on September 10, 1929 on the bride's parents farm. Aikes was president of the Peoples Savings Bank in Cleves where he had worked for 53 years retiring in 1971. He was a member of the East Friesland Presbyterian Church of which he was active as a church treasurer, Deacon, Elder and Sunday school teacher.

He is survived by his wife, Fannie, and a daughter, Marlys Aikes, both of rural Ackley. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Henry, Wiard and a brother in infancy; three sisters, Jankan Jutting, Gertrude Harms and Mathilda Harms.
