Fannie Aikes

Fannie Aikes, 95, of Ackley, died September 1, 1997 at the Presbyterian Village in Ackley of natural causes.

She was born November 24, 1901 on the family farm near rural Steamboat Rock, the daughter of Henry and Antje Wilts Jaspers. She was a graduate of Clay Township #5 and Edgewood Sewing School in Iowa Falls.

On September 10, 1929 she married Ralph Aikes at her parent's farm. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Aikes was a member of and past treasurer of the Missionary Guild and a life-long member of East Friesland Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant brother; one brother, Abraham Jaspers and a sister, Florence Kannegieter.

Survivors include one daughter, Marlys Aikes of Ackley and a sister-in-law, Esther Jaspers of Ackley.

Funeral services were September 4 at the East Friesland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Doug House officiating. Marcia Beving served as the organist accompanying vocalists Marlene Oelmann and Arlene Heetland.

Casketbearers were Raymond Daniels, Ralph Harms, Arthur Jaspers, Harold Jaspers, Delmar Magnuson and Steve Piper.

Interment was in the church cemetery.

Brandt-Fritz Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
