Funeral Services For Albert Kies Held Mon., May 11
Albert Kies died at his home, 602 Fourth Street, Friday, May 8. He was 65 years old. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the East Friesland Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Lee S. Ferro officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Albert Kies, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Kies, was born in Carroll county, near Breda, Iowa, December 4, 1898. He spent his early years in Carroll County as a farm laborer, and did carpenter work with his father.
In 1927 he came to Ackley and in 1929 he was united in marriage to Jane Freese. They lived near Ackley for a number of years, and then southeast of Cleves, where his wife passed away August 5, 1950.
On January 27, 1954 he and Anna Bleeker were married. They lived southeast of Cleves until 1959, when they moved to Ackley.
Mr. Kies was a faithful member of the East Friesland Presbyterian Church. He served as trustee for three years, a Deacon for three years and was a member of the Men's Chorus.
Surviving are his wife, Anna; two sisters, Mrs. Harry Sinning, (Louise) of Ackley and Mrs. Hugo Stoelk (Anna) of Westside, Iowa; a brother, William of Odebolt, and nieces and nephews.
His parents, five brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
