Melvin Freeseman

Funeral services for Melvin Freeseman, 86, who died June 30, 1993 at Maple Manor Nursing Home in Aplington, were held Saturday, July 3 at 10 a.m. at Faith Presbyterian Church with Rev. Tim Diehl officiating. Darlene Heetland was organist and soloist was Wanda Fritz. Ushers were Thomas Sherfield and John VanLoh. Serving as honorary pallbearers were DeLaine Freeseman, Glenn Freeseman, Gordon Freeseman, Kenneth Reed and Gerald Willems. Casketbearers were Charles Allison, Stanley Allison, Douglas Freeseman, Kevin Harken, Louis Harken and Vaughn Willms. Interment was at East Friesland Cemetery. The Brandt-Fritz Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Melvin Freeseman was born December 26, 1906 at Austinville, the son of Louis and Alice Croot Freeseman. He attended the rural Butler County Schools. On June 12, 1940 he was married to Sadie VanHeiden. He farmed and mowed lawns for a living. He was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church of rural Ackley.

Survivors include two brothers, Fred Freeseman of Aplington and Clarence Freeseman of Clarksville; four sisters, Lena Voogd of Ackley, Catherine Larsen of Kewanee, IL, Bertha Allison of Allison, Frances Allison of Parkersburg. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Sadie; three sisters, Anna Mae Kreimeyer, Susann Harken and Alice Smeins; and two brothers, Harold and William.
