Joe W. Cobie
Joe Wesley Cobie was born March 24, 1897 in Hardin County, Iowa, the son of John and Margaret Heikens Cobie. He attended country school and high school and took a course in mechanics in Omaha, Neb. He was a lifetime farmer and was active in farm organizations.
He became a member of East Friesland Presbyterian Church on Feb. 25, 1923 and he served as a Sunday School teacher and as an Elder. He attended church faithfully as long as his health allowed.
Mr. Cobie and Mary Lindaman were married March 16, 1927 and they were privileged to observe their golden wedding anniversary in 1977.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Luella Hook. He leaves to mourn him, his wife, Mary; one sister, Mrs. John R. (Ina) Lindaman and a brother, George Cobie.
Mr. Cobie passed away Feb. 23 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.
Funeral services were Wed., Feb. 26 at 1:30 p.m. at the East Friesland Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Dupee officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. The Brandt-Fritz Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
