John G. Bleeker Funeral August 8

John G. Bleeker was born Feb. 22, 1902, the son of George and Minnie Koolman Bleeker in German township, Grundy County, Iowa and suddenly departed this life early Friday morning, Aug. 6, 1971 at his home at the age of 69 years, 5 months, 14 days.

Services were conducted from the Eastfriesland Presbyterian Church Aug. 8 with Rev. David Dupee officiating. Miss Kathy Beving served as organist; Mrs. Merlin Bangasser as pianist; Mrs. Gordon Fritz and Mrs. Leonard Oelmann, singers. The flower committee was Mrs. Bernard Cobie and Mrs. Wm. L. Boelman. Pallbearers were Arend Fisher, Elmer Flessner, Frederic Fisher, Charley Ryken, Bernard Cobie and Wm. L. Boelman.

Mr. Bleeker gave his body to medical science and his soul to the Lord. Later the remains will be interred in the church cemetery.

Mr. Bleeker attended the rural school near their home, Gates Business College in Waterloo and Coyne Electrical School in Chicago.

He was baptized in infancy and joined the First Presbyterian Church in Ackley on confession of faith in 1927 where he served on the church board.

On June 22, 1927 he was united in marriage to Marie Brightwell. To this union were born a daughter and a son.

In 19402[sic] the church membership was transferred to Eastfriesland United Presbyterian Church near Ackley where he remained a faithful member until his death.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter Ramona Lou (Mrs. Fred Feikes) of Ackley; a son Darrell Edward of Steamboat Rock; six grandchildren, Linda and Dawn Feikes; Darla, Denise, Douglas and Daniel Bleeker; two sisters, Lizzie (Mrs. Ben Roelfs) of Ackley and Bernice (Mrs. Tom Hunt) of Fountain, Minn. and a brother, Benjamin, of St. Cloud, Minn. Preceding him in death were his parents, four brothers and one sister and a host of friends and relatives.

Mr. Bleeker devoted his life to his family, his church, his farming interest and his community, where he will be sorely missed by those who knew him best.
