Mrs. Leister Brown

Mrs. Johanna Leister Brown, nee Johanna Miller, was born August 6, 1869 in German township, Grundy county. She died in the hospital at Hampton, Iowa, Friday, November 6. She was united in marriage to Henry G. Leister on March 22, 1887. Six children were born to them. They are Mrs. Jennie L. Huston, Daniel, Wyoming; Mrs. Ordia L. Guptill, Syracuse, New York; Fred G. Leister, Parkersburg; Harry J. of Waterloo; August M. of Wheaton, Ill.; and Mrs. Ellen L. Croak of Cleveland, Ohio. They were all with her at the time of her death.

A subsequent marriage to J. P. Brown occurred March 29, 1934. He preceded her in death on July 25, 1941. Two brothers survive her; Heye Miller of Spencer and John Miller of Mission, Texas; three sisters and one brother preceded her.

Services were conducted at the Houts Funeral Home Monday at 12:30 P.M.; Rev. Rice officiating. Burial was in the family lot at the East Friesland German Presbyterian cemetery, with Rev. Siemsen giving the committal service.

The pall bearers were six of her nephews: Udie Vietor, Austin, Minn.; Elmer A. Coordes, Ackley; Edward L. Coordes, Ackley; Herman J. Trey, Parkersburg; Johannas Miller and Arend Miller of Ackley.

Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Heye Miller, Spencer, Iowa; Cordie S. Coordes, Omaha, Nebraska; Aleidus Vietor, sons and daughter, Udie, Edward, Arnold and Mrs. Frieda Kunze, of Austin, Minnesota; Hays Vietor of Kansas City, Kansas; Henry G. Leister, Waterloo; and a grandson, Jay J. Huston of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
