BORCHERS, HEMMEN

Cleves--Albertus Borchers, 81, Friday at a home in Eldora, where he had been the last five months; born May 5, 1873, in Germany; married Gepka Hemmen there and the couple came to the United States in 1905; had always lived in the Cleves vicinity; wife died about 50 years ago; leaves son, J. A. Borchers, manager of the Cleves Creamery; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; also preceded by four sons; funeral 1 p.m. Monday at the home of his son and at 1:30 in the Eastfriesland Presbyterian Church six miles southeast of Ackley; burial in church cemetery; body at the Fritz funeral home at Ackley until 3 p.m. Sunday, when it will be taken to his son's home.

Mr. Albertus Borchers passed away Thursday in the Old Peoples Home near Eldora where he spent the past several months. His former home was in Abbott. He is the father of Mr. Cobus Borchers. The funeral was held in the East Friesland church Saturday, Feb. 5.

Albertus Borchers Dies in Eldora

Albert Borchers, who resided during most of his lifetime at Cleves and vicinity, died last Friday at Eldora where he had made his home the past five months. He was 81 years old.

Mr. Borchers was born in Germany, May 5, 1873. He married Gepke Hemmen in Germany and shortly after their marriage they came to this country in 1905. They came to the vicinity of Cleves where they made their permanent home. The wife died a few years after they came to this country.

Surviving are one son, J. A. Borchers, who is engaged in business in Cleves. There are seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild surviving. Four sons preceded their father in death.

Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon in the Eastfriesland Presbyterian church in German township. Burial was in the cemetery adjoining the church. The services were conducted by Rev. Calvin Siemsen.
