Wellsburg Funeral For Luitjen VanLoh

Services were conducted Thursday, April 28 from the East Friesland Presbyterian Church near Wellsburg for Luitjen VanLoh, 76, who died Friday at the Maple Manor Nursing Home in Aplington.

Rev. David Dupee officiated at the services with Merlin Bangasser and Mrs. Leonard Oelmann providing the vocal music. Mrs. Virgil Heetland was organist. Flower ladies were Mrs. Claus W. Ross and Mrs. Herman DeVries.

Casket bearers were John M. VanLoh, Arnold DeVries, Louis DeVries, Warren Lindaman, Harold Lindaman and Donald Lindaman with interment in the East Friesland Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Doyen Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. VanLoh was born on a farm in German Township, northwest of Wellsburg, the son of John and Johanna Riebkes VanLoh. He attended the rural school in the area. On February 10, 1921, he was united in marriage to Miss Kate Lindaman.

Following their marriage they lived on a farm in German township, where they lived until 1947 when they retired and moved to Wellsburg. Mrs. VanLoh preceded him in death in 1961.

A member of the East Friesland Church he was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of the American Legion Post of Wellsburg and the Grundy County Barracks 1418, Veterans of World War I.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three brothers, a half-brother and a sister.

Surviving are two sisters and one brother, Jans VanLoh of Ashton, Mrs. Herbert (Tena) Janssen of Parker, S.D., and Mrs. Jake J. (Jennie) DeVries of Ackley.
