Everdena Arends, age 85, of Ackley, died on Monday, January 11, 2010 at the Presbyterian Village in Ackley. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, January 14th at the Faith Presbyterian Church, Ackley with burial in the East Friesland Cemetery, Ackley. Visitation will be 3-6 P.M. Wednesday at the Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley.

Everdena Jeanette Arends was born on August 8, 1924 on a farm in German Tsp, Ackley, Iowa, the daughter of Menno and Henrietta (Krull) VanLoh. She was baptized in the East Friesland Presbyterian Church and attended German Tsp School. On March 6, 1956 she was united in marriage to Byron Arends at the East Friesland Presbyterian Church. She was enjoyed working with bees, making communion bread and working in her garden.

Everdena is survived by her sister, Helen Benning of Ackley; a sister-in-law, Norma Viet and her husband, Bernard of Ackley; and a brother-in-law, Alvin Boyenga of Iowa Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Byron; two sisters, Johanna Mennenga and Esther Boyenga; and a twin brother, John.
