Funeral Services Held Saturday for Paul Heetland
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 12, at 1:15 at the home and at 1:30 p.m. at the East Friesland Presbyterian Church for Paul Heetland, who died suddenly Wednesday morning, December 9, while at work on his farm south of Ackley. The Rev. C. F. Siemsen officiated at the services. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Paul Heetland, son of Paul and Eka Heetland, was born April 7, 1892 in Hardin county. He grew to young manhood in the parental home. On February 16, 1915, he and Florence Geerdes were married, and following their marriage lived on farms in Hardin county.
Mr. Heetland had been a faithful member of the East Friesland Presbyterian church since May 16, 1915. He had been baptized and received his early Christian instruction in this church.
He is survived by his widow; two daughters, Pearl (Mrs. Louis Meints) of Steamboat Rock, Gladys (Mrs. Herman Bakker) of Holland; four sons, Elmer, Kenneth and Virgil, all of Ackley, and Gordon, serving in the armed services at Fort Lewis, Washington; seven grandchildren; a brother, Ubbe, of Tucson, Arizona.
Preceding him in death were a son, James Maurice; a sister, Minnie (Mrs. Joe Boyenga); a half-sister, Jane (Mrs. Albert Kies), and a half-brother, Christian Freese.
