Russell S. Borchers

Russell S. Borchers of Waterloo was born June 28, 1936, in rural Steamboat Rock, to Peter and Gladys Wolf Borchers.

He attended Robertson School and graduated from Iowa Falls High School in 1954.

On September 3, 1966, he married Ann Evers.

He served in the Iowa National Guard for eight years and worked at Culligan Water as a route man, also for eight years, and then at Mid-Continent Bottlers as a warehouse supervisor for 28 years.

On Monday, October 24, 1994, Borchers died at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo. He was 58.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, October 27, at East Friesland Presbyterian Church, rural Ackley, with the Reverend Charles Westerdorf officiating. Marcia Beving was organist with Arlene Heetland and Marlene Oelmann as vocalists.

Bill Hudson, Don Neese, Don Melka, Chuck Kohrs, Leowen Ulrich and Dale Brass were casketbearers. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of Waterloo; a brother, Albert and his wife Gert Borchers of Iowa Falls; a sister, Arlene and her husband Robert Ghoske, also of Iowa Falls; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The Locke Funeral Home of Waterloo was in charge of the arrangements.
