John R. Lindaman
John R. Lindaman, Ackley, was born June 5, 1901, in Ackley, to Richard and Tillie Hickman Lindaman.
He attended Grundy County schools and was a farmer his whole life. On July 17, 1924, he married Ina Cobie at the East Friesland parsonage.
He served on the Grundy County Farm Bureau and as past director and also had been a trustee on the East Friesland Presbyterian Church board.
He died Wednesday, October 26, 1994, at the Presbyterian Home, Ackley. He was 93.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 29, at East Friesland Presbyterian Church with the Pastor Doug House officiating. Marcia Beving was organist.
Burial was in the church cemetery. Casketbearers were Mark Boheman, Michael DeBerg, Steven DeBerg, Jim McDowell, Laurel Thomas, Neil Thomas and Paul Thomas.
Survivors include four daughters, Darlene DeBerg and Ruth Boelman, both of Ackley, Jean Campbell of Mount Vernon and Jo Miller of Powell, Wyoming; two brothers, Fred of Waterloo and Delbert of Wellsburg; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a sister, Mary Cobie; a daughter, Mildred Thomas; a granddaughter, Georgia Campbell; and a great-grandson, Jon Thomas.
The Surls Funeral Home, Iowa Falls, was in charge of the arrangements.
