Mrs. Vanderwerf Died Tuesday Morning At Home of Daughter

Mrs. Simon Vanderwerf, nee Ella Klinkenberg, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John M. Riebkes, northwest of Wellsburg, Tuesday morning, Jan. 28. She was born Aug. 24, 1866 in Germany and was 80 years old at the time of her death.

She was married March 3, 1892 to Simon Vanderwerf and has made her home in this community practically ever since. Mr. Vanderwerf died Aug. 16, 1930.

The deceased is survived by seven children: Mrs. John Boekhoff, Wellsburg; Mrs. John M. Riebkes, Ackley; Mrs. Ernest Wilde and Ben Vanderwerf of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Pete Vanderwerf, Ackley; Chester Vanderwerf, Worthing, South Dakota, Mrs. Wm. Vanderwerf, Springfield, Minnesota. There are also 44 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at the John M. Riebkes home and later at the Eastfriesland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Siemsen in charge.

Obituary Mrs. Simon Vanderwerf

Mrs. Simon Vanderwerf, nee Ella Klinkenberg, was born on August 24, 1866, in Germany. She immigrated to America and was united in marriage with Simon Vanderwerf on March 3, 1892. With her husband she first lived in the vicinity of Ackley, Iowa, and later in Minnesota and So. Dakota, until they finally returned to Iowa. She attended churches in the communities in which she lived and also the East Friesland Presbyterian church for a number of years.

Her husband was called from her side through death on August 16, 1930. After her husband's death she lived in Ackley, Iowa. During the last year of her life she made her home with her two daughters, Mrs. John Boekhoff of Wellsburg and Mrs. John Riebkes of Ackley.

Mrs. Vanderwerf was called out of this life Monday night, Jan. 27, 1947, at the age of 80 years, 5 months and 3 days. Her death occurred in the home of her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Riebkes, where she had been for the past five months. She is survived by her four daughters, Mary, Mrs. John Boekhoff of Wellsburg; Bertha, Mrs. John M. Riebkes of Ackley; Ida, Mrs. Ernest Wilde of Sioux Falls, So. Dak.; Dena, Mrs. Wm. Vanderwerf of Springfield, Minn.; three sons, Ben of Sioux Falls; Chester of Worthing, South Dak.; Pete of Ackley; 44 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, besides other relative and friends.
