Vanderwerf Services Held on Wednesday

German Township Resident Is Laid to Rest at Age of 73

Wilke Vanderwerf, died at his home northeast of Wellsburg January 31, 1930, at the age of 73 years, 4 months and 16 days. He had been in a serious condition since last Tuesday and a son, Peter Vanderwerf of Springfield, Minn., had arrived to help care for him.

Funeral services were held at the Engelke church Tuesday, February 4, following a prayer service at the home at 12 o'clock. The services were conducted by Rev. Engelke and burial was made in the church cemetery.

Surviving, besides the widow and three sons, are a brother and a sister at Parker, S. D., and other relatives.

Mr. Vanderwerf has been a member of the Engelke church since May 1906.

Obituary

Wilke Peter Vanderwerf was born on September 15, 1856, in Jennelt, Amt Emden, Ostfriesland and was married to Jantje Dirkeseden, March 6, 1880 at Grothusen Amt Emden.

They came to America in June 1883 and settled near Ackley. Their union was blessed with three children, Peter at Springfield, Minn., Dick at Lafayette, Minn. and Simon at Sleepy Eye, Minn.
