Mrs. Swanetta Oelmann

Funeral services for Mrs. Swanetta Oelmann, 88, who died Wednesday November 16 at 7:30 a.m., at the home of her daughter Mrs. George Oelmann, six miles northeast of Ackley, were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Eastfriesland Presbyterian church, six miles southeast of Ackley. Rev. C. F. Siemson conducted the funeral service; burial was in the East Friesland cemetery.

Mrs. Oelmann, nee Swanetta Dannen, was born June 23, 1850 in Germany, where she grew to womanhood. She was married there to Johannes Kappel and following his death in 1902 she with her three children came to America and settled for a while in Ackley. Later she was married to George Oelmann, and they made their home on a farm southeast of Ackley. They retired from farm life and came to Ackley. Mr. Oelmann died five years ago, and since that time she has been making her home with her daughter.

Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. George Oelmann; two sons, John Kappel, Joe Kappel; two step-daughters, Mrs. John Kappel, Mrs. Joe Kappel; two step-sons, Fred Oelmann and George Oelmann; fifteen grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Else Dannen of Ackley.
