Rites Saturday For Menno Meints

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, Nov. 18, at the East Friesland Presby. church for Menno Meints, who died November 15 at two o'clock in the afternoon. The services were conducted by Rev. C. F. Siemsen. Interment was in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Obituary
Menno Meints, son of Tjark and Jantje Meints, was born Jan. 5, 1868, in Hardin county. Later he moved with his parents to Grundy county, where he grew to manhood. On March 25, 1891, he was united in marriage with Johanna Cobie. Together they lived for several years on a farm in Grundy county, and later moved to their own farm in Hardin county. In 1919 he retired from the farm and lived in Ackley until the time of his departure from this life.

In 1897 he joined the East Friesland Presbyterian church. Even though he could not attend the services in the church, due to physical infirmities, for quite a number of years, he was always vitally interested in the life and work of the church.

Mr. Meints was the last survivor of nine brothers and sisters in his family. He always enjoyed good health until about twelve years ago when he was stricken with a heart attack. This caused him to be bedfast for over a year. After recovering from this illness, he had to submit to several serious operations. However, through the grace of God, he was again permitted to recover and enjoy reasonably good health for a number of years. He attained the age of 82 years, 10 months, 10 days. One infant son and one daughter, Flora, preceded him in death. His passing is mourned by his widow; two sons, Charley and Johannes, both of Ackley; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; besides many other relatives and friends.
