Rites Held For Mary Jaspers
Mary Jaspers, 88, died at her home in Steamboat Rock on March 4.
Services were held at the Steamboat Rock Presbyterian Church in Steamboat on Tuesday, March 8, at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Bruce Baillie and Rev. Randall Jaspers officiating.
Music was provided by Beverly Peters.
Pallbearers were Rev. Randy Jaspers, Arlan Jaspers, Alle Jaspers, Donald Rose, Keith DeNeui, and Jim Geerdes.
Ushers were Gene Mitchell and Jim Rose.
Interment was in the East Friesland Presbyterian Cemetery.
Mary Jaspers, daughter of Marten and Angelina (Oltman) DeNeui, was born near Wellsburg on Dec. 4, 1899.
She attended school in Wellsburg and was a charter member of the Second Christian Reformed Church.
On September 6, 1920, she was united in marriage to Abe A. Jaspers by the Rev. A. C. Kruse of Steamboat Rock, and they moved to a farm SE of Cleves. In 1951, they moved to Steamboat Rock.
She was a member of the Steamboat Rock Presbyterian Church, UPW, and Steamboat Rock Legion Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers, one sister, and one grandchild.
She is survived by her three children: Marjory Jaspers Hohenhaus, of Wunstorf, Germany; Harold Jaspers, of Steamboat Rock; Ivan Jaspers, of Steamboat Rock; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Brandt & Fritz Funeral Home of Ackley was in charge of the arrangements.
