Mrs. Henry Riebkes

Death Occurred Friday, Following Brief Illness

Mrs. Henry (Helena) Riebkes, in her 67th year, died at her home in Ackley last Friday evening at 9:15 after a brief illness. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from her home in Ackley and at the East Friesland Presbyterian church in German township, Rev. Calvin Siemsen, pastor. Interment of the remains was in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Mrs. Riebkes had undergone an operation last July.

Mrs. Riebkes was born April 19, 1867, in Kretzum, Germany, and came to America with her parents in 1882, settling in Grundy county. She was married to Henry Riebkes in December, 1893. Through the years they lived in German township, until they retired from the farm in 1924 and came to Ackley. Mr. Riebkes died Dec. 29, 1935.

Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Henry Eggers, Fostorie; Mrs. Coart Janssen, southeast of Ackley; Misses Jeanette and Anna Wiarda, of Aplington; three brothers, Uko Wiarda, German township; Jake, at Grundy Center; and Robert, north of Austinville.
